About the Planning Responsibilities of the Authority

The Sullivans Cove Waterfront Authority is a planning authority under the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 and is responsible for the Sullivans Cove Planning Scheme 1997.

Applications for planning permits can be made to the Authority in much the same way as they were in the past to the Hobart City Council.

The Authority’s statutory role extends beyond this to include building and plumbing regulation under the Building Act 2000.

The Authority will also receive, advertise and refer works applications to the Tasmanian Heritage Council under the Historic Cultural Heritage Act 1995.
