Once a permit has been issued, a number of procedures must be undertaken before, during and after works have been completed. These procedures are summarised below:
Before works commence:
- For plumbing, a start-work authorisation must be lodged with the Authority either verbally or in writing prior to works commencing.
During works:
- Both building and plumbing permits will identify mandatory notification stages.
- For plumbing works, the Authority’s plumbing inspector is required to undertake inspections at each stage.
- Your plumber should contact the Authority’s plumbing inspector (preferably 48 hours prior) to arrange these inspections.
- Mandatory inspections for building works will be arranged and carried out by your building surveyor.
On completion of works:
- If all plumbing work has been inspected and is considered satisfactory, the Authority will issue a Certificate of Completion (plumbing) to the owner/agent.
- If all building work has been inspected and is considered satisfactory, your building surveyor will issue you with a Certificate of Final Inspection, an Occupancy Certificate and Maintenance of Essential Safety and Health Features and Measures certificate. On receipt of these documents, the Authority will issue a Certificate of Completion (building) to the owner/agent.
