Authority is Throughout his career, Mr Gilmore has demonstrated capacity in planning and high-level strategic and policy advice as well as earning a reputation for integrity and independence. He has extensive experience in leading complex strategic policy development in planning gathered during five years in the Department of Primary Industries Water and Environment, including the past two years as Deputy Secretary, Strategic Policy and Planning. Mr Gilmore's role in the Department often meant challenging existing approaches and assisting in finding new ways to carry out complex policy and regulatory tasks, while ensuring that diverse stakeholders groups were treated fairly. As a past member on the Resource Planning and Development Commission (1999 - 2003), Mr Gilmore learned to operate in an independent statutory environment at the centre of the planning system. The Commission is an important organisation in land use planning in Tasmania and will play a major role in the planning process for the Sullivans Cove Waterfront Authority. Since 2003, Mr Gilmore has been responsible for the Government's Hobart Waterfront project, reporting to the Steering Committee of four Agency Heads. This involvement, at the strategic and operational level, means he has a depth of understanding of the issues, aspirations and opportunities of the Government and all the key stakeholders. He is knowledgeable about the legislation and its origins, including the full Parliamentary debate. Mr Gilmore completed his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Fisheries Biology and Marine Biology at James Cook University of North Queensland, Townsville, in 1982. StaffMarietta
